Front-Row at Mid-O for Jeff

(Watkins Glen, NY) 20 June 2008—As temperatures rose at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Jeff Segal continued his hot streak in Grand-Am competition as he scored a front-row starting position for Saturday’s EMCO Gears Classic GT Classic in the FXDD SpeedSource Engineering RX-8 on Friday with a fast lap time of 1:25.639-seconds.

Segal will co-drive with Emil Assentato as the duo looks to make it two wins in a row after Segal scored a maiden Rolex Series victory in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.

But the race will  utilize a different playbook than the ones that’s been so successful so far this season, as Assentato is fighting a flu, and might not be able to make his normal full contribution to the race effort. Segal will start the race and look to make the most of his stint before turning the car over to Assentato, who will hopefully be in fighting form on Saturday.

“It’s going to be interesting and challenging. I’m running in KONI Challenge and the Rolex Series with two good teams and two good cars so that’s enabled me to have that good of a run here. But we’ve got a tough race ahead of us, with my co-driver, Emil Assentato, under the weather, I wasn’t planning on qualifying and then at the last minute we had to make that change. It still remains to be seen how the race is going to pan out tomorrow.”

The race will get underway at 5:00 PM, with SPEED bringing a live broadcast.
